Description (Day 6)

This morning after breakfast, we made our way toEverland , Korea’s equivalent of Disney Land and Safari adventure. We bought the “Big 5” entrance ticket which entitled us to five attractions.

At the entrance we took a group photo for remembrance. Once we were in, our tour guide led us to take the Human Sky (similar to Sentosa) that brought us to Friendly Monkey Valley. There were many species of primates on display. At the chimpanzee display, you can get up close to the chimps and watch their activities. Next to it is the Animal Wonder World where we saw polar bars, birds and reptiles. Both these attractions are free.

We took an exhilarating ride on the Amazon Express on fast waters that went through a 580 meter-long made believe jungle. Be prepared to get wet.

The most amazing is the Safari World where lions and tigers live together. According to our tour guide, both these ferocious beasts can never coexist. Somehow after putting them together and all the fighting between them, a cub of a lion and tiger descent is born and the first ever in the world. They named him Liger by taking the “Li” from Lion and “ger” from Tiger. We boarded the bus and entered the Safari. We saw many lions, tigers and a couple of ligers resting. Further down, there were many Grisly Bears standing along the road performing tricks when our bus stopped beside them. The bus driver would tell the bear to perform its trick and reward it with some food after its performance.

After Amazon Express and Safari World, we had used up two attractions on our “Big 5” ticket and had three more to go, that’s where our tour guide left us to tour the rest of the place on our own. We made our way to the Four Seasons Garden. The flowers were a magnificent sight. There were chrysanthemums, lilies, roses, tulips etc. It gave you the feel that you in Holland.

We walked briskly and rode the Flume Ride, looks like we were craving for more water adventure along this 443 meter-long stream. Great thing we brought our wind breakers along. We went into Aesop’s Village to ride the Racing Coaster, a milder roller coaster which we could handle. Lastly we rode the Hurricane that revolves 360 degrees when it starts swinging. It looked like child’s play, however when you get on it, it will surprise you. Fortunately after we completed the Hurricane, it began to rain. At the same time we felt our stomachs rumbling and it was past 3pm, so we settled for fast food which in our opinion was way bit expensive, imagine the restaurants.

After the meal, we went window shopping at the Grand Emporium, the largest gift shop there to look for souvenirs. At 5pm, we left Everland and headed to Seoul city.

Myeongdong shopping area, leads the trends for Korean fashion, is the busiest region in Seoul . It offers reasonable prices for branded items like clothes, cosmetics, shoes, bags etc. That’s why we saw throngs of young Koreans walking the roads surrounding this area. We had our dinner at one of the restaurants that served western food similar to Hans restaurant we have at home. The serving size was good and the price pretty low, it was value for money.
