Connecting to SAGE Games Server with Windows95
- Dial-Up Networking
- If you already have the "Dial-Up Networking" icon, you can
skip this part and proceed to 2. To check whether you have it installed,
double click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop. From there
you should see the "Dial-Up Networking" folder.
- Let's proceed to create the Dialup Networking folder.
Double click : My Computer
- Double click : Control Panel
- Double click : Add/Remove Programs
- Click on : Windows Setup, highlight : Communications
- Click on : Details
- Click on the checkbox in the "Dial-Up Networking" option
- Click on : OK button
- Configuration of TCP/IP
- After setting the Dial-up Networking, Windows 95 will immediately open
the "Network" setup window under "Identification" .
This entry is not important. You can give any name to your machine or just
leave it blank.
However, if the "Network" setup window is not opened, select
the "My Computer" icon from the Desktop. Double-click on the
"Control Panel" and select the "Network" option.
- Click on : Add button
- Select : Protocol and click : Add button
- Click on : Microsoft from the Manufacturers list and
- Select : TCP/IP in the Network Protocols list
- Click on : OK button
You will see "TCP/IP" being added to the
"Network" menu.
- Highlight : Dial-Up adapter option
- Click on : Properties
- Click on the tab : Bindings
Ensure that only the TCP/IP is ticked
- Click on : OK button
- Click on : OK button at the Network window
Windows 95 will now prompt you to restart your system.
- Select : OK so that the new settings will take effect
- Configuration of Modem
(Note : Ignore this section if your modem is already setup)
- Now we need to configure the modem (letting your computer know where
and what your modem is)
- Select : My Computer from the desktop.
- Double click : Control Panel
- Select : Modem option
(Ensure that your modem is switched on and all cables are secured).
- Click on : Next button
Windows 95 will now try to detect the modem that you have connected to
your PC.
- It will report the COM port that the modem is connected to
- Select : Change button to change the modem type or click on : Next
to continue
Make sure the "Maximum speed" is set to 115200, and "Only
connect at this speed" is unchecked. Ensure that flow control is enabled
and only "Hardware (RTS/CTS)" is checked and not "Software
(XON/XOFF).
It will prompt you to change the modem type if
the modem you specified is different from the one detected. (It is best
you just accept the type detected by Windows 95)
- Connecting to the Internet
- Now you are all ready to get connected to Sage.
- Open up : My Computer
- Double click : Dial-Up Networking

- Double click : Make New Connection

- Enter : SAGE (Node 1)
- Click on : Next button

- Type : 3465435
- Click on : down arrow to display country codes and
- Select : Singapore(65)
- Click on : Next button

- Click on : Finish.
You will see the "Sage (Node 1)" icon.

- Click on : Sage (Node 1) icon using the right mouse button
- Select : Properties

- Untick : Use country code and area code
- Click on : Configure

- Click on : General tab
- Both the COM Port and Baud Rate are already pre-set.
Ensure that they are correct (Consult your modem manuals for more information).
- Make sure the Maximum speed is set to 115200 and hardware flow control
is enabled .

- Click on : Options
- Select : Bring up terminal window after dialing
- Click on : OK button

Make sure "Use country code and area code"
is not TICK
- Click on : Server type

- Enable Software compression
- Select : TCP/IP
- Click on : TCP/IP Setting

- Select : Server assigned IP Address and
- Specify : name server addresses
- Enter the following :
- Primary DNS : 192.168.1.1
- Select : Use Default gateway on Remote Network
- Click on : OK button.

- Click on : OK at the Server Types window and then
- Click : OK at the Sage (Node 1_) window.
You are now ready to get Connected.........
- Click on : My Computer folder
- Open : DialUp Networking folder
- Double click : Sage (Node 1) icon (Leave out the field for Username
and Password . As it is a Manual Dial, you only required to enter
your UserID and Password later.
- Click on : Connect button

- Once you are connected to Sage, you will see a terminal screen . If
you do not see the sage login: appeari ng, press "Enter"
key once.

- Enter your "UserID" and "Password" at the prompts
- Enter pppstartup at the "Press any key to continue ...
..." prompt and press enter.
(Note : This is to startup the PPP on the server end)
- Click on : Continue button

- The Connection dialog boxes display the Status :
- Verifying username and password
- Logging on to Network and
- Connected at 28800 bps (depending on your modem speed) will appear
simultaneously on your screen.

- Click on : Details button to check if you are connected using the TCP/IP
protocol.
- You can now Connected and should be able to use the other Internet
applications
- Repeat the above steps for Node 2,3 and 4 with the following numbers
3457563, 3460563, 3452035 .
- Connecting to the Local Kali Server
- Once your network connection has been successfully establish, fire
up your Kali 95 .
- Select Servers->Connection to Address from the pull down menu bar
.
- Set the IP to 192.168.1.1. and Port to 2213
- Click on : OK.
- Once you got your Kali connected, you are now set up for some network
gaming on the SAGE Games Server !
