I did not know the Saviour's love,
His word was strange to me
Till one day, stricken from above,
My heart was made to see
His name in wonder I confessed
Assured my hope would be:
God's mercy and His faithfulness
Forever keeping me!
In bitter times and troubled health
I nearly did complain
But still in faith I told myself
My hope is not in vain
For in the midst of all the stress,
This blessed theme I see:

I know not all that lies ahead,
'Tis all uncertainty
Yet through the words that Jesus said,
I'll lift and comfort me
he promised guidance through distress,
His love will always be:
God's mercy and His faithfulness
Forever keeping me!
When all things melt and pass away
A new being I'll become
In New Jerusalem I'll stay
Forever in God's Home.
And seeing Him, my soul will bless
His name eternally:
God's mercy and His faithfulness had always been with me!
