What is DR DIET?

DR DIET is a moderately low calorie nutritional drink that is designed for people who wish to embark on a safe and long-term weight loss and maintenance programme. DR DIET has been designed specifically to suit the Asian population's dieting requirements, and the specialized Elken programme helps you improve your body composition to safely provide a healthy, steady rate of weight loss of about 1-2 Kg per week.

How does DR DIET work?

As a result of the moderate level of carbohydrate taken over a few days, the body will experience a shortage of glucose, the most desirable fuel in the body. Our body will begin to turn to glycogen stores for energy. Once these stores are depleted, it will start to seek alternative fuel.

DR DIET contains moderate levels of carbohydrates and choice levels of pure plant protein, which helps protect lean muscle from being metabolised into energy. Hence, our body will then turn to fat stores for emergency supplies and convert these fats to free fatty acids (which are small fat molecules). Our liver will then convert them to ketones. This is effectively known as ketosis. In the DR DIET programme, this ketosis is mild, compared to ketosis observed via other unsupervised full fast VLCD programmes.

DR DIET Programme

DR DIET Programme is based on the principles of sound nutrition and healthy eating. It is not a full fast programme. The DR DIET Programme provides tremendous flexibility in weight management. In addition to taking the DR DIET nutritional drink shakes, you would also take other sources of low-fat meal and/or snacks, depending upon your weight management objectives. Let's get started …………….
Before you begin the programme, calculate your BMI (Body Mass Index) and determine your weight management objective. You can choose any of the following recommended programmes, according to your weight management objective. Use DR DIET to help reach your goal in an enjoyable, satisfying, and above all, healthy manner.

*Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women. BMI uses your height and weight values to determine whether you are at risk for weight-related health problems. The lower your BMI, the lower your risk for health problems. BMI is calculated by using your weight (in Kg) and dividing it with your height (in squared Meters)

Mixing Instructions
Pour 230ml ( 1 cup ) cold water into the shaker jar, drink mixer or blender. Add the contents of 1 packet. Shake vigorously or blend on high speed. Do not use warm, hot or boiling water.

Reminder : Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily and do not skip meals (Reverse Osmosis (RO) water preferred)

Advantages of DR DIET Weight Loss Programme

Safe & Effective
DR DIET is designed for gradual weight loss via a mild state of ketosis. It helps to protect against the loss of lean muscle while providing for adequate provision of carbohydrate and protein. It is proven safe, reliable and does not cause any side effects for long-term consumption. The estimated weight loss is 1-2 kg per week.

No Medical Supervision Required
Other full fast VLCDs and exercise programmes should only be taken after consulting a physician. In North America, unlike Asia, full fast VLCD products are to be taken under strict medical supervision as the risks associated with these programmes are very high. In fact, these products are classified as ‘Medical Foods’ by the US and Canadian health regulatory agencies and have to be strictly administered by a licensed healthcare practitioner. In contrast, the DR DIET programme is one of the few commercially available weight loss and weight management programme that is engineered to be taken without medical monitoring and supervision.

Lifetime Weight Management Programme
Unlike other programmes, DR DIET is nutritionally balanced and can be consumed for the long-term. It can be used as a lifetime weight management programme as the weight loss comes from the loss of body fat, and not from water or lean muscle, unlike the ‘Yo-Yo Phenomenon’. As each individual’s needs may differ, you can even choose to have your normal meals as it is a programme that allows changes and modification. This allows you to enjoy your lifestyle while maintaining a healthy weight!

Consumption Guide

Gradual Weight Loss (Overweight/Obese)
Ideal daily
recommended consumption (including 3 packets of DR DIET):
1,200 calories for women and 1,400 – 1,500 calories for men

  • Recommendation: Take 3 packets of DR DIET to replace 2 meals and 1 snack per day – one for breakfast, one for lunch or dinner and one for morning/afternoon/evening snack. You can complete this programme by enjoying a low fat meal and 2 snacks. Refer to DR DIET Programme diagram
  • You can also create your own low-fat meal by selecting your choice of meal/snacks from each category in the Food Calorie Index Table (refer to DR DIET Insert found in the packaging box). Calculate your calorie intake to make up a moderately low calorie diet.

  • The recommended low fat meal consists of 5 categories: meat, starch, fat, vegetable and fruit.

 

Weight Maintenance (Ideal weight)
Recommendation:
Replace 1-2 normal meals with 1-2 packets of DR DIET daily to maintain your ideal weight. Refer to DR DIET Programme diagram

Substituting one or two meals with DR DIET can ensure that you are getting high quality nutrition. This way, you can stay healthy while keeping your ideal weight.

Nutritional Supplement (Underweight)
DR DIET is an ideal supplement since it contains many other value added functional ingredients. Take 1 or 2 packets of DR DIET as your snack. DR DIET is recommended for everyone, as most of the times our body cannot achieve a balanced nutritional meal due to our modern eating habits and lifestyle.

Remember – permanent changes and maintenance in your weight requires changes and discipline in your life!
