What is Unit Production System ( UPS )? Unit Production System is basically overhead transporters that move single garments between workstations. It is also known as 'mover', 'hanger' or 'overhead conveyor' system. In addition to an easier pick-up and disposal at each workstation, the system calculates the time the garment idle between worstations. Most importantly, UPS addresses the weakness of Long delivery and response time. The Unit Production System at this point of history, became the RIGHT solution to the industry's lost reputation and cause. HISTORY OF THE UNIT PRODUCTION SYSTEM UPS was developed in 1963, after a garment production manager in a shirt factory discovered that only about 20% of manufacturing costs were associated with the actual sewing, while 80% of these costs represented material handling. 2 years were committed to develop the UPS, which reverse the situation so that the relative share of value-aded (stitching) time on the part of the operator would increase. Today, over 100,000 operators are now using the Unit Production System worldwide.
