CONCLUSION

This list of rolls is not complete, and many other ways can be found of bringing boats upright. It is fun to experiment, and to see what can be achieved. In the end, it is not what the roll is called that matters, but whether it works in difficult situations. Newcomers to rolling should realise that there is a world of difference between a simple screw roll in a swimming pool and a complex recovery stroke performed on the weak side in cold rough water when they are tired and frightened. Only practise in realistic situations can make rolling better and more consistent.
