Resident Conductor

Ms Tan Soh Hwa
Ms Tan Soh Hwa completed her musical study of the French Horn and was awarded the Graduate Diploma in Music Performance at the St Louis Conservatory of Music, USA under scholarship from PSC. She was also a prize-winner in the 2nd and 3rd National Music Competition and played French Horn with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.

Ms Tan is a pioneer member of the Singapore Soka Wind Ensemble and is currently the resident conductor of the band. In addition, she is also the conductor for several school bands, including Crescent Girls Secondary School, Hai Sing Secondary School, Ngee Ann Secondary School and Anglican High School and tutoring many French Horn players.

Resident Conductor

Mr Chua Tiong Hong
After completing the Band Master Course in 1977, Mr. Chua went on to coach many school bands in Singapore. In 1992, he was invited to coach the clarinet section of the ASEAN Youth Band Workshop. His exceptional talent in playing the saxophone is well renowned and he has been invited several times to perform solo with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra as well as the Singapore Wind Symphony. In addition, he played in many musicals like Cats and West Side Story.

Mr. Chua is a much sought after tutor in both the clarinets and the saxophones. He was a tutor to the saxophone of NUS Symphonic Band, as well as many other clarinet and saxophone players. He now conducts the band at Nanyang Junior College Symphonic, Ngee Ann Secondary School, Hai Sing Secondary School and Anglican High School. Mr. Chua is also the resident conductor of the Singapore Soka Wind Ensemble and a pioneer member of the band.

Woodwind Section

This section comprises the following instruments : Piccolo, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Bassoon, Oboe 

Brass Section

This section comprises the following instruments : Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Tuba, Bass,  Euphonium

Percussion Section

This section comprises of the following major instruments : Drums, Timpani, Cymbals, Xylophone, Marimba, Chimes, Bells, Conga, Mallet, String Bass
