SingTel DataRoam

SingTel's DataRoam network is based on Motorola's DataTAC network technology. This is a high speed two-way wireless data network that allows users to communicate with other subscribers anywhere in Singapore.

The main advantage of this network is mobility. It allows data to be sent over air at a speed of 19200 bps. This rate translate into fewer delays and faster response for the mobile user. It provides excellent street-level radio coverage as well as indoor penetration to windowed offices. It provides an efficient bandwidth sharing mechanism, and lets data transmission proceeds uninterrupted even when inside moving vehicles.

With state-of-the-art error detection and correction schemes, the chance of an undetected error in a message due to radio corruption is less than one in nine million. This provides increased message accuracy, fewer message re-tries and enhanced throughput.
