Bio-data of Simon C. Sim
Simon graduated from the University of Singapore in 1977 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, and plunged into
commodities trading and technical analysis in 1979 when the MAS launched the Gold Bullion market. In his early years,
he learned from the rubber king on trading psychology and simple but effective trading tactics. In 1985, he joined
the Union Bank of Switzerland (S) as a full time Technical Analyst - the first bank in Singapore to employ a full time
technical analyst to support the risk-takers. The visionary CEO of the bank was a strong advocate of Technical
Analysis and understand the potential value of technical analysis in daily forex trading. Not surprising, UBS was the
most profitable treasury then. In 1990, Simon was promoted to the Head of Technical Analysis, supporting the regional
treasuries in Asia plus the dealers in Switzerland.
In the bank, the scope of technical analysis covered currencies, interest rates, swaps, financial futures, stock
indices and spread analysis. His daily forex analysis and forecasting, posted on the Reuters and DJ Telerate, was like
a daily bible to all dealers, clients and competitors. Many dealers and customers valued highly his long term forecast,
while the dealers had utmost respect for his intraday and short term views. The dealers know that to go against his
forecast is like standing in front of a moving train.
Besides the daily analysis and forecasting, Simon's role includes training and education for new dealers and hold
seminars for corporate clients and Central Banks. He was the sole speaker in the bank's prestigious Central Bank
Seminar held yearly.
With 23 years of Technical Analysis exposure and experience, coming up with analysis and forecasting is a breeze to
him. He incorporates classical analysis, waves, psychology, seasons and cycles, plus his black-box proprietary
solutions in his daily forecasting.
With the merger of the banks in 1998 (UBS and SBC), Simon left the banking industry to pursue his pet project -
creating and writing his own proprietary technical analysis software. To date, he has completed three softwares for
various purposes. He has also did some research studies in the last two years and will be looking forward to publish
his research and books. Some of his works include : 7 Years Cycle Analysis and Forecasting and 3 Bar Pattern Analysis
In 2001, Simon started Http://EChartbook.com. This is the first stock market information portal providing instant
chart and smart solutions for traders, investors through the internet. Besides, he runs a free weekly newsletter.
You can sign up to receive the newsletter from his homepage at Http://echartbook.com. As and when he saw a good
trading opportunity, Simon will dissect and analyse the idea and share with his EChartbook subscribers. He has done
many good calls from just Technical Analysis. It goes to show how important and useful the art can be for opportunists
and traders.
