NE-ZHA
With stronger cast and all-new design
The puppetry show that will steal the hearts of young and old!
Drama Centre, 24-26 May 2002

Ne-zha, in brief, tells the story of Ne-zha, a god-child who incurred the Dragon King’s wrath when he accidentally hurt the latter’s son. In the end, he joined his father, Li Jing, in defeating the Dragon King to save the people. Other than the educational theme of the righteous will always defeat the evil, the story will also depict the strong bond between father and son.
The story line has been revised and enriched with more emphasis on the contrast of the father-son-relationships between Ne-zha and Li Jing, as well as the Dragon King and his son. In terms of presentation, there will be more physical and abstract expression, to provide children with more space for imagination.
Ne-zha will incorporate rod and hand puppetry techniques, with dance movements created by veteran choreogrpaher Low Ee Hiang. Hella Chan and Suven Chan from Hong Kong will design the set and lights respectively
Featuring a stronger cast with theatre experience and stronger capability in puppetry handling, the production will welcome again Jo Kwek as Ne-zha, who received acclaim for the same role last year. The Finger Players’ members Tan Beng Tian and Ong Kian Sin will exchange roles this time and play Dragon King and Li Jing respectively.
The Finger Players makes every effort to present a new production of Ne-zha with different effects and sparkles, and aspires to create a colourful, entertaining and educational theatre experience for children.
