A co-founder of The Finger Players, Wai Ying graduated from LaSalle-College of the Arts majoring in fashion design. Her theatre involvement started as early as 1990 when she participated in the Young People's Theatre Wizard of Oz (Missoula Theatre, USA). Her acting stints include Posteterne, Play.Back (Toy Factory Theatre Ensemble, 1992) and Medea (Amp-Theatre, 1998). She was also involved in Touch the Moon (Toy Factory Theatre Ensemble, 1996), Hedda Gabler (Amp-Theatre, 1996), Mr Beng (Arts Festival programme presented by Drama Box, 1999) and Recital of Beings (a TCS telemovie, 1999) as costume designer
