Photometry is the branch of science that deals with the
measurement of light. It is usually viewed as a subset of the broader field of
radiometry, which also includes the measurement of radiation outside the visible spectrum.
Much of our information about the world comes to us through light, and the
detection of light is perhaps one of the most fundamental processes in nature.
