When I was just a little boy, I am always memerised by the music and
song of this girl on the radio. She has a captivating and most beautiful
voice. I was ignorant then of who she was and how she looked.

As
the days passed,............ I began to realise that she is a Carpenter.
And when I saw her, I know I need to be in love.
I am always ready to position myself before the television set to
catch her sweet sweet smile, or by the
radio to listen attentively to her songs and love
lines.
I wanted to know her so much, that I innocently called beechwood
4-5789, but the line never seem to be able to connect........,
I wrote a letter to her without actually knowing the address and hoped
that it would get to her. I waited and waited...... "please
Mr. Postman would you check it and see if there's a letter
for me".
She is such a superstar with her brother,
Richard, now that everyone is talking about
them. So I assured myself, she is busy but I'll get to hear from her
soon, only It's going to take some time.

For all we know, you have left us
for the time being...... To a place far more peaceful and beautiful.
I still wish that one day you would be back in
my life again, because I know I won't last
a day without you.
Rainy days and Mondays always bring
me to listen to your songs. And I would sing
along with you as IF I WERE A CARPENTER.
My blues disappear and I feel that I'm once again on the top
of the world.
Now and then I still believe if time
could bring me back to yesterday once more,
I know I would want to be close to you
again.
It seems like only yesterday and that
we've only just begun, but those
good old dreams would forever be in my heart."

The
words in Green are titles of the songs
and albums from the CARPENTERS,
except the album "If I Were A Carpenter" is a tribute album to the
Carpenters by various artistes.
