About This Page

I like the Carpenters a lot and was searching for them in the Net but to no avail. It was after a month that I stumble upon a web site that has gathered a group of Internet Carpenters fans around the world that got me excited.

"I couldn't really remember the first time I have had heard the songs of the Carpenters. But I believe 'Yesterday Once More' was the first song that left me with the deepest impression. I never knew that there was any singer who could sing a song like Karen did.
Her song captured my attention and subsequently my heart. I can only say that listening to her songs over and over again, makes me love them even more. Her voice is simply beautiful. Yes, She is indeed a Star on Earth, and a Star in Heaven."

I recalled singing "Top of the World" with my fellow schoolmates for Teacher's Day in the school hall when I was 15. We prepared ourselves learning the song. The lyrics was nice. Though I love the song I didn't know they were the songs of the CARPENTERS.
Thinking back, there wasn't much talk regarding the CARPENTERS during my school days. At least, there was nobody I knew of, who would talk about them. It was either I was too young and ignorant to know about them or nobody mentioned about them after Karen had passed away..
Sadly I was not aware that Karen has left us until I saw the 'The Karen Carpenter Story' on TV.

I remembered my first CARPENTERS cassette that I bought when I was still a Polytechnic student. I got the compilation album 'Yesterday Once More' and got to hear those beautiful songs in it. I thought that was the only songs they had worth listening to, but I was wrong. After getting to know more about them through the NEWVILLE Carpenters Internet Mailing List, I learnt that there are even more songs that I've missed that were in fact just as good. True enough, I was thrilled to hear the beautiful tunes and songs of the rest. So I've started to collect their albums........... still missing a few rare ones... which are hard to get. Still trying my luck in the music shops here once in a while......

I believe the CARPENTERS deserve more than this homepage. But that is the only thing I could do to honour them with this tribute page.
