Almost all cacti need as much air as possible and exposure to the sun. An under supply of air and light will make their tissues weakened and destroy their defence systems. Positions at windows or covered balconies are favourable. This ensure sunshine flooding to the plant to maintain the plant’s liveliness.

Cactus may suffer burns under direct sunshine. Same thing goes with plants that are kept behind glass windows, they may be scorch damaged as the sun’s ray is magnified by the glass. Burns is deadly to young plans, which are more sensitive to sunlight than adult plants.

Generally, a position of semi-shade or shade with very bright surroundings results in a greater abundance of more beautiful flowers.
