What does 64 voice Playback means ?
64 does not refer to "64 bit". It refers to the number of voices the internal synthesizer in a sound card can simultaneously
produce. If you go to a music concert and count the number of musicians in a symphonic orchestra, there are easily more
than 32 musicians playing. So it's almost impossible for a regular sound card to play back such music with just 32 voices.
With the AWE64 series, complex MIDI music that contains up to 64 voices can be played back without any loss. The
addition of more voices enable sophisticated Soundfont instruments to be created as well as the use of 3D positional
audio. In short, 64 voices enable richer and fuller sounding music!
What is so unique about the Creative WaveSynth / WaveGuide
The AWE64 line uses the hardware synthesizer (E-MU 8000) and a software synthesizer called Creative WaveSynth /
WaveGuide to achieve the above 64 voice features. You can choose either synthesizer to play your favourite game.
Besides being a software wavetable synthesizer, Creative WaveSynth includes a new method of synthesis called Physical
Modelling. This means that the AWE64 series is capable of simulating the behaviour of a real instrument by constructing
mathematical models based on its physics. Sounds confusing? Basically, it means that besides offering realistic sound
production, the AWE64 series adds expressiveness lacking in today’s computer music. Computer musicans can now
express themselves better; almost as if they were playing the real thing.
14 WaveGuide instruments are included with the AWE64.
What is the advantage of Creative SoundFont Technology ?
SoundFont down-loadable samples allow new sounds and musical instruments to be added to the card.
What is the advantage of Creative 3D Audio Technology ?
E-mu 3D Positional Audio positions sound in a 360° 3D environment providing an immersive audio experience with supported applications.
On the other hand, Creative 3D Stereo Enhancement Technology expands the spaciousness of sounds in a traditional two speaker system.

What is Velocity Control Logic (VCL) ?
At a mix mode of Constant Angular Velocity (CAV) and Constant Linear Velocity (CLV),
the Velocity Control Logic (VCL) technique brings added values to the drive by improved
access time, lower heat dissipation, allowing greater life span of the motor mechanism
and reduce mechanical noise.
