Freshmen Orientation Projects Central Committee (FOPCC)

FOPCC: "Hi there! We are the group of amicable, friendly and warm people responsible for planning the wholesome loads of orientation activities that you are about to go through this vacation. This committee, helmed by the Vice-President of Science Club, consists of all the directors of different projects and centralised support members. While you are reading this somewhere in June/July, our work had started almost 8 months ago (that does not suggest anything about efficiency though, haha)! Together with all the various orientation project committees, fundraising and idea generation had been intensively carried out to ensure the success of FOP 2006. Check out the FOPCC and what our head (Michelle) have gotta say! (please be warned that she is quite long-winded, so please be patient and hear what she's gotta say)"

WORDS FROM FOPCC Head

MICHELLE: "Welcome to the Science Family! Let me guide you through the whole series of activities and things you will encounter.

We have our 2 major camps organised for you which are SCAMP and SOW. Do join both camps for the returns are more than just familiarizing oneself with the school. It is about making FRIENDS and getting to know SENIORS whom will see you through your uni life and beyond! Joining the camps are important as they help to ORIENTATE you into university or one will feel pretty lost when school starts. Here’s a little more on each of the camps…

SCAMP (Science Camp) gives you a head start in uni life. It is a one week long camp from 26/06/06 to 30/06/06. SCAMP promises to bring you lots of exciting programs which are not typical of a JC orientation! However, if you’re working during that period, you can still join SOW (Science Orientation Week). SOW is held during the official orientation week from 03/08/06 to 12/08/06. During SOW, you will learn how to bid for your modules and yet, still have lots of fun under the Sentosa sun and overnight stays! Activities during this camp have been planned around the bidding schedule and your seniors will surely be more than willing to help you with it!

If you’re looking for only a one day camp, there’s RAG & FLAG camp held early July. FLAG day is held on 08/08/06 this year and it is a day when NUS students are out in the streets to raise money for 20 beneficiaries. RAG day, 12/08/06, is when the halls and faculties showcase their majesty float displays. On this day, the whole Faculty of Science (FoS) will come together to cheer our lungs out! Come share our glory as we fight to keep the chancellor’s shield this year! Be part of this major project (RAG & FLAG) and learn more about it through the camps!

D&D (Dinner and Dance) marks the end of all the orientation projects. It is an appreciation dinner with a preview bash. It will also be when we will crown our Science King and Science Queen. Look out for the pretty babes and hunks during this period!

So…What are u waiting for? Sign up NOW! You can also direct any queries to sciencefop@yahoo.com.sg. We’re looking forward to seeing u at our orientation projects! Unforgettable experience guaranteed!"
