Besides buildings exhibiting interesting mathematical properties, everyday objects may also surprisingly show very interesting mathematical concepts. Below are a few objects we found in our homes that we often take for granted.

The above two photographs show a showerhead in one of the group member's bathroom. When one examines the photograph on the right, one may be surprised to find that the water outlets when connected form a nonagon. What is so interesting about this is that this is the only other example of a nine-sided polygon that we managed to find.

Another object that exhibits a mathematically interesting concept is the non-slip mat in the bathroom, as seen in the photograph on the left. What is interesting is that it exhibits an Archimedian tiling, specifically the (4, 82) tiling.

The scan on the right is that of a washi paper design, or Japanese paper design. It is a very intriguing pattern as it is a combination of two different Platonic tilings; namely the hexagonal Platonic tiling and the triangular Platonic tiling.
