How To Say Our Surname

If you know how, please skip this bit. If not, there's a sound in French words like "ans" and "temps" that sounds something like "ong". Say it, and hang on to the last bit.... (those of you who are lost, try and hum with your mouth open [those of you who can't even do that, just open your mouth and hope no one notices]). Yes, that's it... now end off with a nice, hard G. Not the note, the consonant, silly. There. Ng, ng ng, a bit like constipation. (You can close your mouth now.)

E-Ching's Eyrie (last updated 14 Sept '97)

Hi! I'm now doing English Lit at Yale, after job-hopping for the first 8 months of this year. This year, I'm in a programme called Directed Studies, meant to introduce us to the Western canon. It's a thrilling prospect, but it doesn't look like I'll have much time left over for websites and fantasy!

My calligraphy practice is still almost non-existent, but fortunately my Chinese calligraphy website, Caliriel, is still alive and thriving. In fact, it's now a Geocities Featured Page and Cool Homestead of the Day for 28 August '97 -- and I look forward to the irony and agony of researching snippets on Chinese culture and studying Homer for Directed Studies at the same time.

I am still maintaining my Chao Mugger website for my Humanities juniors in RJC. It's a collection of essays by Humanities students on their English lit texts, plus Real Critics' essays and study links. Again, it will be painful maintaining Chao Mugger this year -- you can thank my brother Yi-Sheng and my RJ English teacher Mr Mike Evans for all the work they're putting in to make this site possible.

Enjoy your stay with the Ng SiblNgs!

Yi-Sheng's Yinterlude/Hopewish's Homecorner

An explanation for the alternative title - I am Yi-Sheng, because that's my real name, and to actually reject it would feel like getting a nose transplant, and I am Hopewish, because it's a lovely fiddly creative thingy to be called, and besides, it's easier to remember.

Hopewish is actually my Muse, and I guess using eir name will forge a stronger bond between me and my creative thingy, or whatever. I dunno.

My main interest is the little folk. For this, I've put up Hopewish's homepage of the little folk of the world, but I also reccommend Rebecca Lehmann's Faerie Encyclopedia or Earendil's Faerie Lore and Literature.

I'm also interested in poetry. As E-Ching is supplying all the really literary links, I'll just mention that I've got some poems on the Net at Shiok!.

Animaniacs fans could probably find something from Animaniacs Pointers that will interest them.

yixian's barracks

As you know, I have a bookworm for a sister, a faire maniac for a brother. I like military aircraft alot. I totally object to my brother calling himself "HOPEWISH". If you want to know the truth, I'm the black sheep of the family. Well for game lovers, military aircraft lovers and for anybody who enters this homepage, HOPE YOU LIKE IT. I'll also be doing a red alert.
