- Mr. William Shakespeare and the Internet [off Chao Mugger]
- FIRST CLASS. There's lots more good Shakespeare stuff on the Net, and this is where to find it. This site catalogues and describes dozens of Shakespeare links. Criticism of Individual Plays is probably the place to go first if you're in a hurry, but try the rest of the site too. If you find something good, from here or otherwise, please do tell me!
- Freud on Macbeth
- Freud psycho-analyses Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, focusing on their childlessness. Wacky but fun.
- Bradley on Othello
- A. C. Bradley, 19th century critic, waxes lyrical about Othello in his greatness and his fall.
- Shakespeare at MIT [off Chao Mugger]
- This site is the oldest, best-known Shakespeare site on the Internet. It maintains attractive HTML versions of all Shakespeare's works, which I'm linking to under each text. There's also a budding discussion area organised by play, with both The Tempest and Hamlet represented.
- The Shakespeare Web: Queries & Replies From Web Surfers [off Chao Mugger]
- The contents page for the Shakespeare Web discussion areas. The archive of interested students' discussions is probably most worth your while. Try this if you're doing tragedies for 'S' paper -- the sheer volume of opinions at this site is mindboggling.
- Connotations: Selected Debates [off Chao Mugger]
- This site is full of long, serious articles on various authors, including Shakespeare. Don't tackle this the night before the exam. It's as challenging as Sakwa or Kermode -- maybe more.
- (Un)related: Macbeth - or how to stab kings and injure people
- Everything you ever needed to know about Macbeth. Er, not for exams though ...
Shall I mail you when there are new essays?
This site most desperately needs new essays, especially some by the J1s and J2s it's for! Contributions dealing with these texts are very welcome indeed.
